This major video retrospective of video works by Slovenian artists is being organized to mark thirty years of their collaborative practice.

Marina Gržinić and Aina Šmid have been working together producing video since 1982. Previously they belonged to the alternative/underground music scene in the former Yugoslavia, where they combined performance art with punk influences. The artists produced more than 40 video art projects, video installations, films, documentaries, TV programs and new media installations. The artists have presented their work at more than 100 video festivals and new media exhibitions around the world. They have received numerous prestigious awards and honours for their artistic achievements.

Marina Gržinić is artist and Professor at The Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. She also works at the Institute of Philosophy ZRC SAZU at the Slovenian Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Aina Šmid is artist and former-editor of the Slovenian design magazine Ambient. She studied art history in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Katarzyna Kosmala is Professor of culture, media and visual practice at the University of West of Scotland, Visiting Research Fellow at the European Institute of Gender Studies GEXcel at Linköping University and Örebro University, Sweden, Visiting Professor at Fundacao Getulio Vargas in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, art writer and freelance curator. She writes regularly about video and new media art. Currently lives in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The show has travelled to CCA Glasgow from Łaźnia Centre for Contemporary Art in Gdańsk, Poland, where it was showcased earlier this month.

The screenings are presented within multi-media event Translating Russian and East European Cultures, Research Networking initiative funded by the UK's Arts and Humanities Research Council. See for more details:
